Real-World Speeds Touch 9.8 Gbps

In a real-world demonstration, a household connected to the new 10G broadband network achieved download speeds of 9,834 Mbps and upload speeds of 1,008 Mbps, with network latency as low as 3 milliseconds. This performance benchmark highlights the immense potential of next-gen fiber networks in revolutionizing both personal and enterprise internet usage.

50G PON: The Future of Fiber Optics

The success of this rollout lies in the upgraded core architecture of the fiber access network. 50G PON technology enables a jump from gigabit to multi-gigabit performance, making it suitable for bandwidth-heavy applications like cloud gaming, remote surgeries, 8K streaming, and AI-driven smart homes.

A Major Milestone in China’s Digital Infrastructure

This development signifies a new era for China’s digital infrastructure. It not only strengthens the country’s broadband capabilities but also positions it at the forefront of global internet speed innovation. With 10G networks becoming a reality, China is laying the groundwork for future-ready smart cities and industry 4.0 applications.

India’s 6G Vision: Bharat 6G by 2030

While China accelerates on the 10G front, India is looking even further ahead with its Bharat 6G Vision, launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister on March 23, 2023. This ambitious roadmap envisions India as a global leader in 6G technology by 2030, focusing on affordability, sustainability, and ubiquity.

To make this vision a reality, the Bharat 6G Alliance—comprising industry, academia, and research bodies—has been formed to drive innovation and standards. Key frequency bands like 4400–4800 MHz and 7125–8400 MHz are under international study for IMT-2030 (6G), with decisions expected by 2027 at the World Radiocommunication Conference.

India may be a few steps behind in terms of current broadband speeds, but its vision for 6G ensures it won’t be left behind in the global digital race.
