Samsung has temporarily halted the global rollout of its One UI 7 update, which is based on Android 15, due to unexpected maintenance issues. The update had begun reaching flagship devices such as the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and select A-series phones. The company confirmed the pause via its Korean community forums and stated that the issues have since been resolved, with rollout expected to resume soon.

Unlock Bug Halts Samsung’s One UI 7 Rollout Globally

The exact cause of the delay wasn’t disclosed by Samsung, but reports from South Korea point to a critical bug affecting Galaxy S24 users. Many users reported being unable to unlock their phones after installing the update. The problem gained traction when a well-known leaker, Ice Universe, highlighted it on social media, claiming the bug was severe enough to warrant Samsung pulling the update from all regions, including China.

Samsung initially began the One UI 7 rollout in South Korea on April 7, followed by phased releases in Europe, the US, Canada, and India. However, the suspension of the update has left many users—especially in India—waiting, unsure when it will be available again.

Samsung Reaffirms One UI 7 Rollout for Key Devices Despite Delay

Despite the setback, Samsung has confirmed that several flagship devices remain eligible for the update. These include the upcoming Galaxy S24 FE, the Galaxy S23 and S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models from the last two years, and even the Galaxy S21 series.

One UI 7 introduces a host of new features, including the Now Bar—Samsung’s version of Apple’s Dynamic Island—enhanced media casting, better photo editing tools like audio eraser, and a refreshed home screen experience with improved personalisation. While the update promises a richer, more seamless user experience, its stable release hinges on resolving these recent issues.

Summary:

Samsung paused its global One UI 7 rollout due to a critical Galaxy S24 bug preventing phone unlocks. Initially released in phases, the update promised enhanced personalisation and features like the Now Bar. Samsung says issues are resolved, and rollout will resume soon, covering several flagship Galaxy devices.
